Does life really teach?

Many say life teaches you many things from experience. But, Id say,

That's for people who are open to understanding the lesson. But, for those who are rushing past everything messing their minds with thoughts of making money, fame, or 'winning' with a second thought, taking even a moment to retrospect or even being aware of one's own deeds seems to be a task in vain.
Some even learn something when tides of misery and difficulty hit their shores, only to forget them in a jiffy to spring back to the race to the unknown.
